Most of my music work this year has been for the channel we launched this year with ChiWay Entertainment on YouTube – Africanoboiscripted. The channel is off to a great start, and we have picked up over 7,200 subscribers, but that’s just the beginning! Last week we launched an indiegogo campaign to raise $4,000 to shoot a web series that we are going to release in 5 3-minute episodes called “The Crew.”
I certainly value your time and will keep this blog post short in the hopes that you’ll watch this 3-minute video below then go immediately to indiegogo.com/thecrew and make a small donation (as little as $5) to help us make this series a reality. There are ONLY 4 days left in the campaign!
The script is great, the cast is amazing, and all we need is you!
If you can’t contribute, take a second to like “The Crew” on facebook at www.facebook.com/TheCrewSeries. Much love to everyone who has contributed so far – I know we still have a ways to go, but there are a few people that are threatening to come through in a big way, so I truly believe we can reach our goal. But we can’t do it without you!
Share this post with your friends on your favorite social media and have a great week!
Africanoboiscripted launched on January 26th with a 2 minute skit entitled “Spare Some Change,” and in just over 2 weeks the channel has received nearly 30,000 views and 6,000 subscribers.
PapaLee Music is providing the music for the channel – which will feature skits and parodies starring AfricanoBOi aka Bryan Oji. Bryan is a youtube star – with over 150,000 subscribers and over 95 million views on his Africanoboishow channel on YouTube. Bryan recently moved to Los Angeles from Houston, and with the help of BJP Entertainment is charting a course through the maze that is Hollywood.
“The goal of Africanoboiscripted is to give Bryan another platform to show what he can do,” says William Hanford Lee Jr., CEO of Burbank based media and management company BJP Entertainment and Bryan’s personal manager. “When you ask people in Hollywood what they think about YouTube talent, you can get some weird responses. Africanoboiscripted is an opportunity to hopefully create some viral content and show that Bryan is ready to go to the next level. I don’t believe for a minute that the success he’s had online is some sort of fluke.”
“On Africanoboiscripted Bryan will be working with a script, a director, an editor and the whole team at ChiWay Entertainment to create content that both satisfies his hardcore fans, and also has the potential to make its way to outlets outside of YouTube.” Lee has also directed several of the shorts on Africanoboiscripted.
The most recent short entitled The Crazy Nastyass Streetwalker (a parody of the hugely popular The Crazy Nastyass Honey Badger) dropped on Tuesday and has generated over 8,000 views in just 3 days and has been called “A Hot Mess” and a “Hood Classic”. Check it out below. WARNING: There are some dirty words! NSFW.

Happy New Year! I am very proud to present the new website for PapaLee Music. We spent the last year or so promoting SOULvival, now it’s back to business as we spotlight our substantial catalogue of music for film and television and aggressively seek more songwriting and composing work
We’re also very excited about some of the new “social” features such as Facebook comments and Soundcloud integration. Soundcloud is a great tool for sharing audio files. We recently uploaded about 80 pieces of music that can be streamed almost anywhere on the web. Check out the player below playing a set list of about 40 miscellaneous cues from different films and TV shows.
PapaLee Music.com has been on the WordPress platform for a few years now, and it’s been great. Look for a big push for record, film and tv placements in 2012. We sure could use your help, and will provide incentives for referrals. Also, any comments, words of encouragement or shares on your facebook or twitter would be greatly appreciated.
BURBANK, CA – Celebrities such as the hilarious comedian Luenell, actor Ernest Thomas and music executive and recording artist Jay King have been among the guests on the newly launched radio show called “Creative Spirit Radio” hosted by artist and entrepreneur William Hanford Lee Jr.. “Creative Spirit Radio” is being billed as a show where “faith meets function.”
Lee is a singer/songwriter from Sacramento who runs an entertainment management company and has had music in films such as “The Taking Of Pelham 123” and on TV shows such as “Burn Notice”. “On Creative Spirit Radio we talk about the spiritual side of creativity,” Lee says. “I think, that in a lot of ways, being our most creative self is about being our best self. This is one hour for talented and prolific people to talk about their spiritual journey and how it impacts the work that they do.”
2010 gave me the incredible gift of fatherhood. My gorgeous 6-month-old daughter Lily blows my mind daily. I am constantly being captivated by her laugh and the sweet smiles of my lovely wife Maria. I hope you enjoy some of the photos in the slideshow below, and as always please feel free to repost (using the Share this button) and to leave comments!
2010 also brought the release of my debut album SOULvival – and the response has been AMAZING. I appreciate all of the support that I’ve received and I’ve learned so much in the process of stepping out as an artist. Look for a couple singles and music videos to drop in 2011.
My client and my wonderful friend (who I also manage) – Luenell has been tearing it up in 2010 as well. Her star is steadily rising and I am extremely proud of all the hard work she’s been putting in.
We ALL need one another to make it happen so please continue to support independent artists and entertainers. I have been exceedingly blessed to be able to do what I love for a living – however the NEXT level belongs to those of us who manage to combine our collective talents and resources to make a dramatic impact on the cultural landscape… THAT’s what it’s about for us in 2011.
Have a Merry Christmas and an exceedingly prosperous 2011.
